Employer pays 100%Discounts in retail stores and free admission to all company attractions*Eligibility requirements may applyEssential FunctionsSupervise the Aquarists to achieve goals; plan and organize workloads and staff assignments/schedules to ensure the most effective use of staff. Participate in the interview and hiring approval process.Train Aquarist on educational tour script and stage direction. Give educational tours as needed.Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned, ensuring operations run smoothly, which include, but is not limited to, assisting with opening/closing procedures, ensuring that the roles are adequately filled, and tours are sent out on time.Participate in Aquarium duties, including set-up and breakdown of aquariums and exhibits, cleanliness, and assisting the Aquarists as needed.Research and prepare a diet to ensure animals' nutrition needs are met. Ensure staff follows prepared diets when feeding animals. Confirm diet with the permit holder. Maintain up-to-date records on the animals' health and diets.Required Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceHigh degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as a team within the scope of established rules and regulations.Ability to maintain safety while performing feedings.Ability to deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.Ability to read, write and speak clear English to communicate with co-workers and the general public.Must be at least 18 years of age.QualificationsA bachelor's degree in marine science or related field, or completion of advanced, college-level related coursework and equivalent experience is required.At least one year of experience in an aquarium or zoological field with an emphasis on closed aquatic systems.Previous experience in a public aquarium is desirable.Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.Successful candidate must pass a drug test and a background search.
