Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, us, 08543

OverviewThe Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (the “AI Lab”) supports and expands the scope of AI research at Princeton, adopting a new organizational model designed to accommodate the challenges of working in this fast-moving field. The AI Lab is focused on incubating ambitious AI-related research initiatives involving faculty members across the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities and providing a shared infrastructure for supporting AI research more broadly at Princeton. As AI research advances rapidly, the goal of the AI Lab is to be able to make investments in areas where that progress can have a disproportionate impact.

The AI Lab seeks a Communications Manager to lead the development and implementation of a communications strategy for the AI Lab, its research initiatives, and coordinate with other groups on campus about AI communications. The AI Lab research initiatives focus on specific timely topics, fostering a community of researchers involving multiple faculty across multiple units on campus who can make progress on those topics. Each AI Lab research initiative has a set of core problems that it tackles while building a community and supporting a broader set of related projects. Current AI Lab research initiatives include Princeton Language and Intelligence, AI for Accelerating Invention, and Natural and Artificial Minds. Princeton Language and Intelligence focuses on large-scale AI models (“foundation models”) such as large language models, AI for Accelerating Invention pursues innovative applications of AI in engineering, and Natural and Artificial Minds explores the interrelationship between AI systems and human minds. In addition to the AI Lab, many units and researchers across Princeton’s campus are engaged in AI related activities and research.

The Communications Manager will work with the AI Lab Director and the Executive Director to set communications priorities for the AI Lab and its research initiatives. The Communications Manager will manage AI Lab communications engagement across all communications platforms, including print and digital media, the AI at Princeton website, and social media.
