This position is responsible for driving strategic initiatives, product development, and operational excellence through data-driven analysis and cross-functional collaboration, with a particular focus on event management and business operations within the Black media and culture space. This role will partner closely with the COO and senior management team to develop and execute strategic initiatives, analyze market opportunities, and enhance product offerings while maintaining strong relationships across the organization to ensure seamless execution of both strategic and operational goals.The ideal candidate has extensive event management experience and thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrating exceptional analytical capabilities. They should be a natural leader who can transform complex data into actionable insights while maintaining the perfect balance of strategic thinking and operational excellence. Their ability to navigate ambiguity, coupled with their entrepreneurial spirit and cultural competence, will be key to success in this role.This role will report directly to the Vice President, Live Events.Responsibilities:Work closely with COO and senior management on product development, company strategy, operations and research/analysisEmploy a hypothesis-driven approach to solve complex business problems and deliver insightful analysis of market opportunities for both current and upcoming productsBuild effective relationships with colleagues throughout the Blavity organization to support analysis of product performance based on multiple internal metrics including technical, financial, sales and strategic benchmarksCombine internal analysis with ongoing market research and competitive landscaping to advise pricing, partnerships and market opportunities for new and existing productsAssist in drafting product requirements, strategic goals and mockups/prototypes for potential product innovations or strategic innovationsLiaise with Business Operations and other departments to coordinate internship project(s)Qualifications:Education: MBA or M.A. in Hospitality or related fieldRequired Experience:
4+ yrs of event management in conferences or trade shows
Preferred Experience:
2+ yrs managing people and teamsPrevious experience working in consulting, finance, media, or related high-growth start-up
Technologies: Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Asana or comparable project management suiteAdditional Qualifications:
Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibilityComfort with ambiguity and a proven love for transforming unorganized/complex data into rigorously structured, insight-oriented solutionsHigh-energy, company-first, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and analytical skills; outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hatsNaturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findingsA healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture
Details:This is a fully remote, U.S.- based role.
