Junior Patent Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks a Junior Patent Litigation Associate to join its dynamic Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation team in Washington, D.C. This full-time, hybrid position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile patent litigation cases, managing complex discovery processes, preparing legal briefs, and representing clients in depositions and hearings. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of patent litigation experience, with strong writing and interpersonal skills, and a background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated associate looking to develop in a fast-paced and collaborative legal environment.
Duties:
Manage discovery processes, including document review, production, and depositions. Prepare legal briefs, motions, and other filings for patent litigation cases. Assist in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials. Work closely with senior attorneys to develop and execute litigation strategies. Research and analyze patent law and related technical fields, including working with experts. Attend and assist in client meetings and depositions as required. Handle ITC and USPTO proceedings (if applicable). Provide high-level legal support across all stages of patent litigation. Requirements:
1-3 years of patent litigation experience. Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively. Experience in managing discovery, preparing legal briefs, and supporting hearings and depositions. Prior experience with ITC and/or USPTO matters is a plus. A background or degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to handle complex legal matters. Must be admitted to the DC Bar or able to gain admission promptly. Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science is preferred. Certifications:
Admission to the DC Bar or ability to become admitted in a timely manner. Skills:
Advanced legal research and writing skills. Knowledge of patent law and intellectual property litigation. Ability to manage a busy caseload while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective client and team interaction. Ability to handle complex technical issues in patent litigation. Proficient in legal case management and document management tools.
