This position's location is subjected to business needs
Primary Purpose:
Plans, administers, and supervises a large locomotive maintenance facility and manages an organization properly structured, trained, and motivated to meet the Department objectives for superior performance in safety, locomotive reliability, and shop craft productivity.
Principal Duties:
Oversees the direction, scheduling, production, cost control, and quality control for these locomotives.
Manages FRA maintenance and heavy repair work on the assigned fleet of locomotives within the established budget restraints.
Ensures efficient and prompt dispatching of locomotive consists for all trains.
Ensures efficient and prompt repair of locomotives consistent with traffic requirements and continued changes and/or improvements in locomotive maintenance to provide more reliable and economical unit repair and performance.
Recommends the purchase of equipment and the modification of existing facilities for attaining quality, efficiency, and production goals.
Resolves grievances, time claims, discipline problems, differences in interpretation of agreements, and conflicts between crafts regarding jurisdiction of work.
Assists in the employment of qualified personnel for all crafts, fulfilling EEO requirements, administering agreements, training student mechanics, and recommending candidates for promotions to supervisors.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 11-15 years Preferred Level: 15+ years
Education:
Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS)
