We’re looking for an Economics Research Lead to drive the future of Ramp’s economic research and market insights capabilities. Our goal is to position Ramp as a credible expert in how companies spend and operate. We also want to position Ramp as a resource that companies can leverage for granular decisions: establishing that we can help
your
company with
your
problem. This person will be Ramp’s spokesperson and industry expert on all things data.What You’ll Do
Act as Ramp’s spokesperson on economic insights and corporate spending trends, engaging with media, academia and industry
Conduct high-impact economic research and analysis that informs customers and builds Ramp’s reputation as an expert in corporate spending and financial trends
Partner closely with comms and marketing teams to deliver insights, craft external reports, and establish new benchmarks
Collaborate closely with P/E/D/D (product, engineering, data and design) teams to scale and automate our reporting, build customer facing data products, and expand the scope of Ramp’s external insights
Expand data distribution to strategic third parties, ensuring Ramp’s data + economic research reaches a wider audience of industry decision-makers.
What You Need
Strong expertise in economic research, with a proven ability to build and distribute high quality research based on financial trends
Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of presenting economic insights through media, journalism, research and more
Strong technical ability with SQL (e.g. Snowflake), python (for data analysis), BI + Notebook Tools (e.g. Looker, Hex), data visualization, experience distributing data insights via reports, dashboard, and data products
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly improving, start-up environment that focuses on solving problems with iterative technical solutions
Nice-to-Haves
Data engineering grade familiarity with a modern data stack (e.g., Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hex, Hightouch or equivalents) and data modeling best practices
Experience with financial technology, corporate spending patterns, or B2B financial services, particularly within the payments space
Established relationships within academia, industry analysts, or data platforms (e.g., Crunchbase, PitchBook) to expand Ramp’s data reach and influence
Advanced degree in economics, publications in economic or financial journals, partnerships with academic institutions
