Apple Maps is one of the world's largest mapping platforms, serving billions of requests each week. The platform supports not only the Maps app on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and Mac, but also many third-party apps used by millions of customers around the world. We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to join the Maps Evaluations Platforms team. This position is responsible for delivering platform services to enable measurement of the success of Maps features across millions of devices. You will be tasked with designing and delivering highly scalable, highly available platform services for the Maps Eval group.
DescriptionThis role is a senior level software engineer role and it will require strong technical leadership skills, broad knowledge of different software engineering domains, and will require deep expertise in AI/ML Ops lifecycle. This person will be required to lead the development of the next generation evaluation and ML experimentation platform. In addition to being a strong software engineer, skills essential to this role include resourcefulness, high attention to detail, and being a great communicator and listener. The ideal candidate loves data and will dedicate his or her efforts to ensure we are collecting meaningful data to help continuously improve Maps.
Minimum QualificationsExperience designing and developing high-volume, low-latency Web Applications for mission-critical systems and delivering high-availability and performance.Strong background in designing highly scalable micro services using Java frameworks like SpringBoot or similar.Strong background in big data warehouses and familiarity with Spark, large scale query engines such as Snowflake.Experience in developing ML models such as Neural Network, Linear/Logistical Regression models. Strong understanding of ML Ops lifecycle.Experience in developing LLM based solutions such as RAG architecture.Manage stakeholder expectations and accomplish quantifiable objectives with a data-driven methodology.Provide technical leadership and domain expertise.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsWeb development experience using JS frameworks such as ReactJS or AngularJS preferred.BS degree in computer science or equivalent field plus minimum of 5 years experience or MS degree plus minimum of 3 years experience.
Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
