If so, Roosevelt University, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, is seeking a Transfer Admission Counselor who will strengthen our partnerships throughout Chicagoland, and help take our team to the next level. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions. A hybrid position based at our Chicago campus, there is an expectation that the Counselor will be on campus 2-3 days per week, depending on the time of year.

Hybrid – 2 days minimum on campus September through April, 3 days minimum on campus May through August; 1 day mandatory for all counselors to be on campus. The Transfer Counselor will travel to their assigned partner institutions regularly as part of their on-campus assignment.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:A bachelor’s degree in relevant field.A minimum of 1-year experience working in admissions/enrollment.Strong public speaking and presentation skills.Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.Ability to manage relationships both externally and within Roosevelt University.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.Ability to navigate personal and potentially difficult conversations and situations with care and tact.Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion when working with prospective students, family and school partners.Self-starter and ability to prioritize independently.Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.A positive and professional demeanor.Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Experience with database systems like a CRM or SIS to input and access individualized and general information related to recruitment and enrollment.Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Valid driver’s license and/or means to travel for recruitment.Years of Experience Required: 1Required Education: Bachelor's DegreeMinimum Qualifications:A Bachelor’s degree is required.A minimum of 1-year experience of higher education admission/enrollment management and/or student services or other relevant work experience.Preferred Qualifications:Fluency, or at minimum conversational in Spanish is preferred.Experience with Slate or another CRM.Experience with Banner or another SIS.Equipment Operated:Basic office equipment: desktop/laptop computer, copier/multi-function device, fax, cellphone and landline telephone.Software systems: CRM (Slate), SIS (Banner), video conferencing (Zoom) and remote communication tool (Microsoft Teams).Working Conditions: Standard climate and noise controlled office environment. Role is mostly sedentary and requires frequent use of wrists for typing, as well as extended time using computer.Essential Job Functions:HSI STEM recruitment:Strengthen the transfer process for STEM majors to RU from territory schools, guiding STEM transfer students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.Identify STEM majors who might be interested in or good candidates for the Honors Program.Connect transfer students with RU STEM advisors once they have been accepted to RU.Attend welcome to RU event for new STEM transfer students.Work with Assistant Director of Admission to collect data for STEM majors at territory schools to share with HSI Director, including identifying challenges STEM transfer students might have in transitioning to Roosevelt.Relationship Building:Counsels prospective transfer applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University.Provides one-on-one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations – admission counseling occurs primarily by in-person or virtual appointments, phone calls, and email.Communicates requirements, expectations, opportunities and success stories with school partners to help support and identify potential students.Application Management:Manages the transfer applicant pool for all undergraduate programs in the assigned territory.Uses CRM (Slate), outreach, and other tools to facilitate application completion.Thoroughly reviews student credentials in making admission decisions using University guidelines and awarding merit scholarship opportunities. Uses the application and transcripts to evaluate students’ ability to succeed.Student Guidance:Guides students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.Provides guidance and pre-advising to prospective students to determine admissibility, appropriate program, location, and resources.Informs students of the various offerings and opportunities available while considering students’ abilities and needs to be successful. In some cases, one may need to suggest other opportunities aside from selecting Roosevelt University if the decision is not beneficial to the student. This could include suggesting attendance at a community college or additional coursework at a previous 4-year institution.Assists students with accessing and understanding general post-admission information and processes like financial aid, residence life, advising and student support services.Added duties as required, including administrative and event support.Percentage Of Time: 60Travel:Plans and arranges all phases of local or regional (where applicable) travel.Travels to local or regional community colleges or other sites for recruitment events.Participates in off-campus events, visit opportunities or meetings to engage with prospective students, families and other partners.Collects and enters prospective student contact information for the CRM system.Percentage Of Time: 30Other duties as assigned.Percentage Of Time: 10Posting Specific Questions
