The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a

Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development

to join our

Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY or Washington DC

office. Reporting directly to the President, this position is a critical member of the firm’s leadership team.

The Senior Director will be responsible for shaping our business development strategies, marketing, and brand positioning, as well as creating implementation plans and budgets that align with our organization’s long-term vision. This role will also provide strategic oversight for Brattle’s functional areas, including business development, events, CRM, communications, digital, and visual design. It offers an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals at Brattle, enhancing our current services and continuing to align them with Brattle’s evolving business needs.

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of professional services and market trends, and strong leadership skills to help achieve firm goals.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

Provide strategic vision and leadership to develop and implement comprehensive marketing and business development strategies, in collaboration with firm and practice area leadership, that align with Brattle’s business goals.

Maintain a strong and current understanding of the economic consulting market including market trends, competitor activities, and customer behaviors adjusting as necessary throughout the year.

Develop annual integrated marketing and business development strategies by crafting go-to-market approaches for the firm; aligning resources to execute that strategy while monitoring success.

Expand Brattle’s global brand through innovative initiatives for different markets, legal practices and geographies.

Work with business unit heads, practice leaders, partners, and individual senior consultants to create industry, service, product, or consultant-centric marketing strategies to drive new business.

Develop and implement internal marketing guidelines and initiatives for the firm that fosters collaboration and information sharing.

Lead and advise on external communication strategy related to public relations.

Lead, develop, and mentor a global high-performing multidisciplinary marketing team to foster a culture of creativity and excellence. This includes setting and overseeing the execution of short- and long-term strategies, structuring the team to address the changing needs of a growing organization, and ensuring a strong pipeline of talent.

Develop and manage Marketing team annual budget, allocating resources to effectively maximize ROI.

As a member of the Corporate Services leadership team, collaborate with other department heads and leadership teams to ensure marketing strategies are integrated into our overall business operations.

THE CANDIDATE

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a strong plus

15+ years’ marketing/communications experience within a professional services firm focused on the legal industry or at a law firm

10+ years in a leadership role with demonstrated ability to develop and retain people and manage projects effectively

Experience expanding into new markets and successfully launching and positioning new service lines

Proven track record with business development in professional services space; knowledgeable about current trends in professional services and more broadly

Knowledgeable about current trends in marketing communications, both in professional services and more broadly

Proven success in a highly collaborative and consensus-driven organization

Ability to project personal credibility, professionalism, and a high degree of integrity among firm leadership and clients

Highly collegial, approaches situations with curiosity, and is open to feedback

Pride in working within a high-quality, high-integrity organization

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

Strong planning, budgeting, and project management skills required

Travel, and off-hour work, are required on an as-needed basis

Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $200,000 - $250,000 annually.

Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
