DescriptionPosition Description:The investment risk manager role is critical in ensuring that investment portfolios are managed in accordance with risk appetite and regulatory requirements, while optimizing risk-adjusted returns for investors. Additionally, the role will be responsible for annual planning and corresponding analysis.Position Location:This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE office is preferred) and partially from home.What you do:Identify, analyze, and evaluate various types of risks associated with investment portfolios, including market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk. This needs to be conducted using a holistic approach, bridging the various investment and operational teams.Work closely with portfolio managers, traders, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand investment strategies and ensure risk considerations are integrated into decision-making processes. Conduct quarterly risk management meetings within the Investment Advisor, focusing on current risks and hot topics across all asset classes.Develop and implement risk monitoring tools and methodologies to track and measure portfolio risk exposures on an ongoing basis.Recommend and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, including hedging strategies, diversification techniques, and stress testing.Prepare regular risk reports for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, detailing the current risk profile of the investment portfolios and any recommended actions.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to risk management and reporting. Develop additional risk appetite policies as needed. Serve as a liaison between compliance team and investment teams to ensure business needs are considered and addressed within compliance framework.Stay updated on industry trends, market developments, and risk management best practices to enhance the effectiveness of risk management strategies.Participate in ERM financial group and financial risk study group. Contribute to ORSA– complete corporate stress testing and collaborate with other asset managers to coordinate ORSA framework and scenarios.Work with insurance company accounting teams on investment income projections, budgeting and analysis, cash flow projections and borrowing considerations.What you bring:Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study required or equivalent combination of education and experience required.7-10 years of experience in risk management and/or investment management, preferably within the financial services industry or investment management required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in risk assessment and reporting required.Experience with quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and financial instruments is desired.Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for preparing reports, presenting findings to stakeholders, and collaborating effectively with team members desired.Proven ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex risk management challenges desired.Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and requirements related to investment risk management (e.g., NAIC RBC model, S&P capital model) desired.What we offer:A meaningful mission.
