Job DescriptionIn this role, you will report to the Vice President responsible for multiple North American businesses engaged in manufacturing, marketing and sales of a variety of products, both business to business and direct to consumer. You will have exposure across multiple commercial and industrial business segments in North America. You will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting multiple business units. Responsibilities will include reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of IP agreements, sales, marketing, and technology agreements, and more. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to broaden skills in multiple areas.
Core Responsibilities:
Review, draft and negotiate IP and technology clauses in all types of commercial agreements.
Negotiate trademark and patent licenses.
Advise on open source software agreements.
General commercial support for business units, including purchasing, sales and other commercial agreements, training and more.
QualificationsRequired:
J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school, member of Illinois bar in good standing.
3+ years of experience doing IP and commercial contract work in a law firm or corporate environment.
Preferred:
Strong understanding of IP protection mechanisms, including copyrights, trademarks and patents, and trade secrets.
Experience with software licensing and open source software agreements.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Other Considerations:
Some travel, both domestic and international, may be required, as needed.
Open to internal and external candidates.
