The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) performs directpatient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant performs avariety of individualized patient care activities including bathing, dressing,feeding and transporting as well as related non-professional services necessaryin caring for the personal needs and comforts of the geriatric patientpopulation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains patient confidentiality of all residents Assists residents with activities of daily living andfeeding Performs transfers and lifts per facility protocol Completes timely and thorough documentation in the facilityEMR charting system Provides support and companionship to patients Assists residents with use of assistive devices Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriateinfection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings orconditions Cleans and organizes patient rooms Assists with putting away residents laundry andbelongings Assists nurse with admission and discharge/s to unit Prepares patients for appointments or transfers

Minimum Requirements:

Active CNA with Geriatric Certification, required Experience with memory care patients, preferred Prefer one year of geriatric nursing assistant experience asa certified nursing assistant within the last three years. Graduate from certified nursing assistant program withsubsequent documentation as a certified nursing assistant per staterequirements with proof of verification as being an active certification andhaving the ability to be work with geriatrics per state requirements. • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of clerical functions. Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable Current CPR TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age
