Responsibilities
Canvass Directors (CDs) lead and manage a field campaign office on one or more campaigns. CDs are bottom line responsible for all leadership and management, and the overall success and integrity of their campaign offices.
Make a Difference on Issues : Lead on the front lines of some of the most critical social change movements in the country fighting for human rights and social justice. Contribute new ideas, test new methods of fundraising and mobilization, and help change how social change happens in America. Manage and Develop Staff:
Overview:
Build and train a team of staff based on organizational budget goals and expectations determined by the Regional Director and Program Director. Canvass Directors lead by conducting outreach, interviewing staff, making personnel decisions, and developing the next generation of leaders to help support your team. Train and manage new hires, train, develop, and manage trainers, Field Managers, and the Field Director. Coordinate with the Regional Director on development plans to grow the office and meet and exceed fundraising goals year-round.
Recruit, train, and develop staff through Grassroots Team's training program, lead in the office and in the field by example and develop the next generation of leaders to help support and grow their team. Train, develop, coach, and manage the team of Field Managers who manage smaller teams in a set geographic area. In an office of over 10 fundraising staff, train, develop, coach, and manage the Field Director to advance their skills and experience. Build a team of fundraising canvassers based on organizational budget goals and expectations. All fundraising standards and budget goals must be met year round. Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive and campaign focused atmosphere. Work with the team in individual and group settings, with a particular eye towards developing and promoting leaders at all levels. Consistently communicate and maintain performance and integrity standards. Counsel, hire, warn, or dismiss staff in accordance with Grassroots Team's personnel policies under the guidance of the Regional Director. Delegate areas of responsibility to the Deputy Canvass Directors to develop their skills. Office Management:
Overview:
Ensure that all policies on information security are followed and that members' information is secure at all times. Carefully track income and expenses to manage the office budget and expenses. Analyze performance, set strategy, lead and follow up with the team on meeting weekly goals. Coordinate all canvassing areas and territories; manage and track the progress of each area.
Manage the office-wide expense and income budget. Analyze performance, design growth and performance strategies weekly and monthly, and create and execute development plans for leaders. Ensure that all policies on information security are followed and that members' information is secure. Ensure tablets and their software are up to date, secure, and PCI compliant at all times. Ensure all personnel, performance, and other policies are applied correctly and consistently. Work with Field Managers to manage canvassing territories and tracking the progress of each area. Track territory and turf usage versus the office's plan, and work with the Regional Director when new territories are required. Raise Money:
Meet and exceed office fundraising objectives Canvass in the field a minimum of 4 days per week while training new and experienced staff, and as determined by the Regional Director. Leading by example and are among the top fundraisers in the office. Qualifications
Our Ideal Candidate: 2+ years of previous management, leadership (paid or volunteer), sales, or non-profit experience; experience in fundraising canvassing is required. Must have the willingness to travel for the training period Excellent use of verbal communication skills and body language when communicating face to face A strong work ethic and passion for progressive causes Is a self-starter, has a positive mindset and motivates teams and office with ease. Goal oriented, determined to succeed, and willing to do what it takes to build their office and the greater movement. Experience leading diverse and inclusive teams of staff or volunteers Willing and able to canvass door to door four days per week. Is comfortable walking for long periods of time (2-5 miles per day) Bilingual is a plus Pay and Benefits
Compensation and Benefits: $55,000 to 65,000 annually + performance-based bonuses Position will be subject to a 6 to 12-week training and trial period paid hourly based on experience Medical coverage and 401-K (after 90 days) Paid time off for sick, vacation, and personal leave (after 20 shifts) About Grassroots Team
