Associate Corporate Counsel

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Corporate Counsel in our Hughes Network Systems division. This attorney will provide day-to-day legal, contractual and regulatory advice, drafting and negotiation primarily in support of the Hughes International and Mobilesat business groups. This position reports to the VP – International Contracts responsible for International/Mobilsat business groups and Anti-Bribery Compliance. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, NDAs, and other agreements with customers, sales representatives, resellers, distributors, subcontractors, suppliers and other business partners Providing accurate and timely day-to-day legal advice and guidance on a variety of matters in relation to contracts and applicable laws and regulations affecting the business, including telecommunications, trade compliance, anti-corruption/anti-money laundering, data privacy, etc. Coordinating with subject matter experts within the Legal Department on various topics including international subsidiary management, corporate governance, trade compliance, communications regulatory, data privacy and other pertinent topic areas Serving as liaison for in-house counsel supporting international subsidiaries Collaborating with stakeholders in the business unit and various relevant functional and operational groups, providing guidance on contract interpretation and resolving contract disagreements and disputes Assisting with due diligence, background checks, and training of potential international business partners, sales representatives and other third-party intermediaries Developing and delivering relevant training to the business Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction. 4-6 years of legal experience with a law firm or at a company working on commercial contracts and/or international business transactions for multinational companies. Travel: 10% or less.
Preferred Qualifications:
Telecommunications or satellite industry experience. Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be engaged and interact with all levels of staff. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Display a high degree of integrity, personal judgment, and confidentiality.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
