Summary:

This is a 24/7/365 day operation wherein Traffic Management Center (TMC) Dispatchers are responsible as primary end user and first line trouble-shooters for the ITS systems of the Indiana Toll Road (ITR).

Along with the technology and required competency assessments during employment, the TMC and its employees serve as a vital link to the preservation of human life and property by the timely and accurate understanding of policies and protocols, accurate and efficient dispatching, and proper notification escalations. Significant errors elevate the risk of injury and accidents along the corridor.

Relationships:Works directly with TMC Supervisor/ Assistant Manager/ Manager and all departments across the ITR.Responsibilities:

Performs all tasks safely, complies with all internal and external safety requirements, supports ITRCC safety culture, attends all safety trainings and completes all compliance trainings as required by ITRCC.Uphold ITRCC's core values: Customer Service, Respect, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork (CREST).Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, detecting, confirming, updating and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents across the (ITR) corridor.Responsible for all facets of operation while on duty including 800Mhtz radio, telephone, and e-mail to communicate with all ITRCC personnel and Indiana State Police (ISP).Ensure compliance and consistency towards ITRCC's goals and objectives.Monitor video images for detection and verification of crashes, debris, abandoned or disabled vehicles, and hazardous or non-hazardous spills. This includes evaluating the location of DMS in relation to the location of incidents/roadway obstructions, quickly developing an appropriate message and activating the DMS sign to inform/warn motorists of traffic conditions or potential safety hazards.Utilization of the ITS software to log potential and confirm incidents, construction and maintenance closures.Dispatch and communicate with towing agencies and emergency response personnel via radio or telephone using standard protocols regarding locations of road hazards and crashes, providing clear direction and accurate description of an incident as advised by the public through safety entities and/or department personnel.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

High school diploma/ GED.Ability to hear and understand two radio channels simultaneously while conversing on the telephone.Ability to type with speed and accuracy.Ability to monitor video images.Above average communication skills both written and verbalProficient computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Ability to communicate with others under stressful conditions.Ability to use common sense in making instant decisions.Desirable Experience:

Knowledge in comparable industry; 1-2 years' experience.Working within a high detailed, policy-oriented approach to responsibilities who can manage stress and complexity.Ability to understand and clearly communicate technical information in laymen's terms.Ability to gain a working proficiency of Automated Traffic Management System (ATMS) software, use of Windows-based applications, related systems, and use of ITS software to control and monitor field devices such as CCTV cameras, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), traffic detectors, and any other technology related to devices that may be implemented as part of the ITS infrastructure.Ability to manage multi tasks, operators are not required to enact software repairs beyond simple instruction and should have a basic understanding of computer instruction and navigation.Working Conditions:

This position requires:
