We are seeking an experienced data scientist to implement advanced analytical tools to support drug target nomination, glean insights into Alumis drugs mechanism of action, and define patient populations most likely to derive clinical benefit from therapies for immune-mediated diseases.
Responsibilities:
• As a member of the Alumis genomics team, the data scientist will support the data analytics needs for genetics, genomics, and other bioinformatic projects using both proprietary and public datasets. Analytical needs span pre-clinical, early, and late-stage clinical development.
• Both proactively and reactively seek, ingest, and curate external multi-omic datasets in the public domain
• Interpret, summarize, and contextualize data analysis results for presentation to project teams, Alumis leadership, and externally as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Possess strong command of data science best practices including robust and reproducible data cleaning, analysis, and visualization.
• Experienced in assessment and utilization of machine learning algorithms (random forest, SVM, etc)
• Experience building batch workflows and pipelines in cloud based systems such as AWS and DNAnexus (e.g. Nextlfow, WDL, AWS batch)
• Experience interfacing, managing, and building data warehouses, data lakes and databases (e.g. SQL, Athena, BigQuery)
• Deep knowledge of the latest NGS/-omics, and immune profiling technologies and their applications in drug development
• Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
• Enthusiasm for keeping abreast of cutting-edge analytical tools across bioinformatics and computational biology
• Previous knowledge in autoimmune disease is a plus
Education:
• Bachelors in statistics, biostatistics, or mathematics with strong computational programming skills. Masters preferred
• Advanced programming skills in R and Python in a cloud computing environment (R strongly preferred), with experience using version control practices (git)
• 2-5 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience

This position is located in South San Francisco, CA. At this time we are not considering remote applicants.
The salary range for this position is $125,000 USD to $145,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.
