Job Description
Program Overview:
Our Safety Management Trainee Program is designed to develop future leaders in workplace safety by providing hands-on experience in key areas of our safety and compliance operations. This is a structured 6-month program offering broad exposure to the different aspects of occupational health, safety, and risk management, culminating in the opportunity to work on a high-impact capstone project. We offer two cohorts of safety management trainees annually, with one class starting in January and the other in July.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months - Rotational Experience: During the first three months, trainees will rotate through critical safety and operations departments to gain an understanding of the company's safety practices, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Trainees will be exposed to: Live Operations Safety Processing Plant Safety Transportation and Logistics Safety Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Compliance Human Resources Safety Programs Safety in Procurement, IT, and other support departments The goal is to provide a comprehensive view of how these departments maintain safety standards, ensure compliance, and contribute to the overall well-being of employees and the success of the company. Last 3 Months - Capstone Project: In the final three months, each trainee will focus on a specific area within safety management. They will be tasked with developing and executing a capstone project that addresses a key safety challenge or opportunity within their department. This project will culminate in a presentation to senior leadership, showcasing innovative solutions to improve safety practices or reduce risks across the organization.
Post-Program Placement:
After the 6-month program, trainees will be placed in available positions within the safety function. If no position is immediately available, the trainee will continue working in their current capacity until a suitable role opens.
Safety trainees will be considered for roles such as Safety Coordinator and other like roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in hands-on training across various safety functions Engage with cross-functional teams to understand safety workflows, regulations, and processes Collaborate with safety leaders to identify and work on strategic safety and compliance initiatives Design, develop, and present a capstone project focused on improving workplace safety or reducing risk Build relationships with employees across departments and actively contribute to the company's safety culture Attend safety leadership and development workshops to enhance personal and professional skills Complete regular safety assessments and reports as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
Recent graduate with a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field Strong interest in a career in safety management and leadership Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting A proactive approach to work, with a high degree of ownership and accountability Must be willing to travel to different facilities throughout the program (DE & NC) Program Benefits:
