The opportunity

The Sr. Data Quality Assurance Engineer is part of our Data Services team that ensures business-applicable data is curated, accurate, accessible, and convenient for use by the business to inform data-driven our decisions and strategic programs. The Sr Data Quality Assurance Engineer thoroughly tests the raw and curated data, metadata, data extractions, loads, transformations, and aggregations used to support our needs. These deliverables include (but are not limited to) data pipelines, warehouses, integrations, marts, stores, lakes, virtualizations, models, and associated database objects. The Sr. Data Quality Assurance Engineer reports to the Data Quality Assurance Manager. This role can work 100% remotely within our approved states. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

You will test data transformations, ETL processes, and data services to ensure accuracy, completeness, and performance.You will collaborate with database administrators, data engineers, and other partners to understand data requirements, data models, and system architecture.You will participate in the testing and validating emergency production bug fixes.You will assume a leadership role in special testing projects and tasks.You will ensure that required documentation, such as architectural specifications, our requirements, and functional documentation, is up to date and follows set standards.You will ensure that deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.You will follow all data quality assurance standards, processes, and best practices.You will develop and automate test suites for data quality, metadata, regression, smoke, functionality, and performance.You will analyze and ensure changes are reflected in the test case and test cases are updated based on the solution.You will log defects in a detailed, understandable, and reproducible manner.You will track defects through closure by working with the Development team.You will provide guidance and recommendations for data quality improvements, data cleansing, and data governance programs.You will communicate testing status completely for the team.You will mentor guidance to user acceptance testers, fellow QA engineers, and the Development team.You will train and assist onboarding new team members.You will work with peers, management teams.Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.Other responsibilities as assigned.What we'd like to see:

7 years of database development or data Quality Assurance experience with practical work in a quantitative, data-driven business environment working directly with data.2 years' experience in data Quality Assurance testing.Knowledge and practice of data quality assurance best practices and methods in a data services environment.High-level understanding of relational database architecture, data warehousing, data manipulation, summarizing/aggregating data, and data extraction from multiple, different data sources.High proficiency in SQL programming for SQL Server with the ability to develop and maintain complex queries and scripts for data validation and testing.Experience with Visual Studio using C# unit testing.Sound knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices based on experience with Kanban and Agile methodologies, including source code control best practices.Experience with Azure Data Factory, including developing pipelines and their supporting SQL, implementing pipelines, and monitoring their execution and outcomes.Additional Experience with:

Experience with Azure DevOps, including Boards and Git source code control.Knowledge and practice of data quality management principles.Experience in defect tracking and release management.Have lead experience in manual and automated testing tasks.We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $91,388.00 - $146,247.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $100,983.00 - $136,624.00.
