Job Description:
The Intermountain Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Intermountain Healthcare. The Foundation consists of Central office and local fundraising programs. The MGO 1 position solicits develops relationships with potential donors to close major gifts of $25,000 and greater with a focus on gifts of $100,000 or greater. This position partners with colleagues, managers and other stakeholders to implement solicitations for major gift revenue streams. The position is responsible to foster strong relationships and work closely with appropriate Foundation leadership, Board members, community leaders, foundation staff, and volunteers. Works closely with other Foundation teammates to deliver proposals and manage their portfolio. The MGO 1 works with the Director of Development and supervisor in implementing industry best practices, including the development of strong relationships with the donor community, as well as volunteers and other caregivers. Is expected to manage a portfolio of donors/prospects through the entire solicitation process.
Position Details:
The Philanthropy Officer effectively implements gift solicitations for their portfolio, while working with their supervisor and other colleagues to generate strategies to produce philanthropic revenue and engage the local community. The portfolio includes relationship from their assigned area as well as the Intermountain West, if assigned. This position generates donations over $25,000, oversees a portfolio of donors, and develops relationships of trust with industry experts and community. Capable of independent work, the incumbent collaborates with the Director of Development and their supervisor to ensure they meet metrics and KPI's.
This is a hybrid position. Incumbent will work Monday-Friday during regular business hours. There are foundation-related events that take place throughout the year that require work outside the regular schedule on evening and/or weekends. The department and office location for this position is at Primary Children’s Hospital/Eccles Outpatient Services in Salt Lake City.
Job Essentials:
The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies designed to identify, cultivate, and effectively solicit major gifts from high capacity donors to the Intermountain Foundation as follows:
Cultivates and solicits a portfolio of planned and major gift prospects for Intermountain Healthcare. Meets performance objectives by maintaining a high level of development activity that results in funding and in the identification of new prospects for the priorities each year. Records all activity in the Raiser's Edge.
Prepares major gift proposals and ensures stewardship reports for donors and prospects in portfolio. Builds plans to involve appropriate senior leaders and board members in cultivating major gifts. Partners with local and system Foundation to engage key stakeholders and committees
Maintains positive relationships with donors and prospects. Coordinates with other Foundation staff to appropriately steward and identify major donors, and to effectively utilize events as potential prospect pools and as relationship-building and stewardship opportunities.
Works closely with other Foundation Gift Officers to coordinate approaches to shared donors and prospects.
Adheres to metrics to demonstrate success and identify areas for improvement. Sets, documents, and meets annual goals. Analyzes Major Gift program performance and reports results for senior management review.
Maintains awareness of changes in philanthropy and best practices in major gift and planned giving.
Stays current on local hospital and system-level activities, events, and achievements, seeking creative opportunities for donor and prospect engagement.
Understands privacy and confidentiality best practices and HIPPA compliance to ensure the protection of donor information, including permitted PHI.
Understands the role of the Foundation in the overall strategic plan of Intermountain to raise funds that support Intermountain's mission: Helping People Live the Healthiest Lives Possible.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field such as non-profit management, public administration, corporate social responsibility, communications, business, finance, social work, or community development.
Three years of professional fundraising experience or associated non-for-profit experience, one of which may have been in sales/marketing with increasing levels of responsibility and demonstrated success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Healthcare fundraising experience
Relationship management (internal and external partnerships)
Writing and editing
Preferred Microsoft Office Suite competency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
