SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer Senior Principal who will provide engineering expertise to support, maintain, develop, and test existing and new communications systems for NIWC PAC. This position will provide network-engineering expertise for the development of Submarine Communications Systems. This role is located onsite in San Diego, CA.
JOB DUTIES:
The network engineer will support the analysis and engineering, system architecture, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis, requirements and network engineering of the implemented networks.
Candidate will provide a high level of network engineering expertise in the development, research of components, functionality and schedules to provide recommendations to the customer.
The candidate will be able to provide a high level of system administration, and testing support to the system administrator.
The engineer will maintain and document lab systems, provide support for testing, and provide status of progress to the customer.
Candidates will have experience and familiarity with virtualization (VMWare) and MS environments and possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to lean new technologies quickly.
The candidate will have strong hands-on networking skills including troubleshooting and building networks from diagrams.
Candidate will have ability to documents networks with layer 2 and layer 3 diagrams.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering, and 10 years or more relevant experience.
Relevant experience in network monitoring, management and control.
Excellent Communications Skills are imperative.
Establish equipment configurations in support of operational requirements.
Network WAN Design including Firewall configuration and integration.
Experience with backup and restoring systems.
Ability to design and implement network architecture.
Candidate should have strong computer and networking skills and demonstrate a working knowledge of current applicable military and commercial standards and specifications.
Preferred experience with DoD accreditation processes: DIACAP and RMF.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Current Security+ at a minimum, within 6 months.
Relevant experience in Hyper-converged architectures.
Relevant experience in fundamentals of Networking and Firewalls.
VMWare Certified Professional.
6 years in hands-on translating requirements into design for networks and HCI.
MBSE Experience preferred.
Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) to lockdown network equipment.
Maintain network in compliance with NETSEC directives (IAVA, IAVM).
Candidate must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Visio, Project, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word).
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
