The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000.00 and $131,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
Within the Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) Unit, Quality Assurance (QA) Testing Team is responsible for assessing compliance with AML/BSA and Sanctions laws and regulations. The QA Testing Associate is responsible for conducting the day-to-day testing efforts related to KYC, Sanctions, FIU Investigations and other FCC units. The QA Testing Associate’s role involves supporting the planning and execution of the unit’s activities and assisting in training the unit’s analysts in testing assessments. The Associate will utilize test scripts, and judgement to evaluate compliance with AML/BSA and Sanctions policies and procedures.
The QA Testing Associate will identify and compile thematic issues, document test results, and communicate findings, as well as assist in drafting QA Testing Reports and updating QA Testing procedures and test scripts. The QA Testing Associate will also perform validation testing for issues identified during QA Tests. Furthermore, the QA Testing Associate will interact with stakeholders from various internal bank departments, such as KYC, Sanctions, FIU, Analytics, and Program Management.
Role Objectives
Perform full-scope reviews, targeted reviews, and / or special projects and related tasks as directed by the QA Testing Lead for Sanctions and the Head of QA Testing.
Assess compliance with sanctions related regulations and established policies and procedures.
Identify, test, and evaluate related controls and procedures to determine that business procedures and controls are designed appropriately and operating effectively.
Assist in developing testing plan, procedures, and test scripts for the testing of program areas and products and services.
Identify potential concerns & control gaps, determine the root cause of identified issues, and help coordinate corrective action with applicable stakeholders.
Document detailed substantive work papers, prepare findings, and communicate to process owners and management.
Assist in collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative Risk Assessment data.
Perform validation and closure of issues identified during tests.
Qualifications and Skills
Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML and sanctions laws and regulations, and compliance requirements and standards that impact a global financial services firm such as KYC/client risk rating, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, client screening/sanctions requirements, and risk assessments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills to identify, document, present, and report issues.
Expert knowledge of banking products and services.
Strong relationship-building skills to manage internal management relationships.
Maintains high level of confidentiality, unquestionable character, integrity, and professionalism.
ACAMS certified or other equivalent industry certification is a plus.
Work Experience: 5 to 7 years of comparable or relevant experience
Education: Preferred: BA / BS (or equivalent experience)
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: ACAMS
Language Skills: English
