Regional Sales Leader

This is an office-based role based in the New York City office.

What the day will look like

The Regional Sales Leader is responsible for developing and executing the regional sales strategy, managing the regional sales pipeline, and leading a team of sales-oriented individuals to drive sustainable revenue growth in the region.

Job Responsibilities:

Works closely with Region and Solution Line leaders to identify growth opportunities and develop sales execution strategies.

Develops plans to implement and share sales standard processes within their assigned territories and with their regional peers.

Identifies and recruits key strategic talent in the region, not limited solely to production talent.

Develops sales talent in the region with a focus on ensuring the success of new production hires and the continued production of established colleagues through mentoring, training, and coaching, in partnership with National Sales and other contributing resources.

Supports the development of National Sales initiatives and programs: onboarding, training, sales incentive programs, marketing campaigns, prospect assignment, lead nurturing, activity management, producer accountability, pipeline management, and dispute resolution.

Annually develops a regional sales plan and ensures each office plan supports the regional go to market strategy.

Cultivates and provides day-to-day leadership and shares sales best practices to the community of Resident Sales Directors within assigned region. Operates in a consistent, transparent and predictable manner so the Region’s production team understands expectations.

Partners with Marketing and Communications to develop and leverage tools (campaigns, advertising, market analytics, and communications) to deliver better growth

Communicates and assists in the administration of Incentive Compensation Plans across the region. Interpret and apply new business definitions and resolve conflicts between offices and producers.

Partners with the Resident Sales Directors to establish clear roles, responsibilities and performance expectations for their Producers and AEs.

Orchestrates succession planning on key roles; leads Resident Sales Director recruiting and talent pipeline for assigned region.

Helps Resident Sales Directors marshal appropriate Aon resources to support sales efforts. Helps resolve internal issues with geographies, practices, and other groups or people as needed.

Drives and monitors the implementation of the sales process. Ensures prospects are assigned to the most appropriate colleagues and transferred when underlying activity is not sufficient. Instills activity management protocols to ensure activity supports producer sales goals.

Supports the Regional Leader and Finance Leader to prepare for monthly forecast calls and business reviews.

Monitors and explains variances in new business results collaborating with Resident Sales Directors in the region.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Strong understanding of insurance sales channels and deep knowledge of regional insurance trends and development

Fluent and knowledgeable on each Solution Line’s product set

Experience developing and executing sales growth strategy in the region and building industry verticals/communities

Proven track record of building long-term and service-oriented relationships with clients

Thorough understanding and deep knowledge of client business and risk issues

Proven track record of increasing sales, developing a sales region, and managing sales teams with positive results

Demonstration of leadership values

Exceptional communication skills to convey compelling messages across all levels

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with Sales, Risk, and/or Insurance Management preferred

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $300,000 to $400,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus or production incentives in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus or production incentives varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
