Optim Orthopedics is seeking a full time or part time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (for Dr. Heiges) for our Savannah, GA location.
Job Requirements:
Primary Duties: Perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis. Formulate a treatment plan for Orthopedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.
• Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens. Order or perform diagnostic studies such as, but not limited to EMG, electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations such as CT, MRI, and bone scans etc.
• Perform or assist surgeon with procedures such as, but not limited to, digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgical procedures, such as, but not limited to: wound closure, wound management, wound debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning of fractures, k-wire removal and hardware removal.
• Perform or assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to, joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast and splint applications.
• Assist in surgery to include, but not limited to, first assist duties, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of appliances and any other action delegated by the surgeon.
• Conduct hospital, rounds, write orders, and assist with on-call duties for the Orthopedic surgeon as directed.
• Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals.
• Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopedic devices as allowed by state legislation.
• Evaluate, screen and counsel patient on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources. Conduct and/or participate in research studies or perform quality assurance activities where applicable.
• Complete patient intake in Athena in conjunction with physical exam if working without a MA to assist. Ensure documentation for medications and allergies, as well as any quality incentive or insurance specific requirements, are accurate and have been updated in the chart.
• Other duties as needed such as: rooming patients, surgery scheduling, calling patients, and tasks as needed to ensure clinic flow, patient care and all essential tasks of the physician clinic and patient care are as effective and efficient as possible. Administrative duties may include, but not limited to, completion of assigned tasks in Athena (buckets), voicemails, emails, scheduling appointments.
• Complete the required documentation and billing tab in Athena in a timely manner after the visit. Practice policy is documentation will be completed and reviewed by provider within 48 hours of the visit.
• Maintain a professional demeanor even when patients are upset, and contact a supervisor if necessary.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality when servicing patients. Protect the security, privacy, and integrity of patient health information (PHI).
• May be required to work flexible hours and some weekends as needed by the supervising physician.
• Maintain area of special assignment.
• Other duties as assigned
Requirement:
Two years experience preferred.
Education: Completion of training from accredited institution. Must be a licensed to practice in Georgia.
