Description

Wakulla County Fire Rescue has an immediate need for a Full-Time Paramedic. This position works under the supervision of the on-duty Lieutenant or Captain to provide rescue services including emergency response, advanced pre-hospital life support, patient care, and transport. Duties include the operation and maintenance of rescue apparatus and medical equipment. Examples of Duties

Provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) care (in compliance with Chapter 401 F.S. and Chapter 64E-2 F.A.C.) according to the established County EMS Procedures Manual and applicable protocols and Standing Orders, to persons in need of medical attention.

Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls to provide care to victims of illness or injury.

Utilizes all required safety measures when performing assigned job duties.

Prepare and maintain a safe, sanitary working environment.

Treats patients according to the standards set forth in Chapter 64E-2 F.A.C. and County Standard Operating Procedures manual. Ability to deal with patients and public with varying mental and behavioral status.

Cooperates with other personnel assigned to ALS ambulance and other responders as a team. Is responsible for all medical care rendered to patient(s).

Ensures that proper and accurate records and reports are kept, as required by established rules and procedures.

Responsible for the stocking of supplies, inventory and the cleaning of apparatus, equipment and the station.

Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly in order that the ALS ambulance is always available to respond to a call.

Completes daily inventory according to established procedures.

Maintains ALS ambulance and keeps it clean and orderly, and in proper operating condition.

Performs related work as required.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Qualified applicants will possess and maintain the following training, certifications, and abilities: • High School diploma or acceptable equivalent • Valid Florida Driver's License • State of Florida Paramedic Certification • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider certification • Certificate of completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) • Certificates of completion of FEMA IS-00100, IS-00200, IS-00700, IS-00800 Courses • Ability to pass FBI Background Check • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening. * A completed, notarized Fire Fighter Tobacco Affidavit is required Supplemental Information
