Job Description
ABOUT THE JOB
Perform various functions within the Packaging and Shipping Department, preparing products for shipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate mobile equipment to transport materials between buildings and departments
Process outgoing shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, and shipping products
Ship orders based on the customer’s preferred shipment method (UPS/FedEx/LTL) in an accurate and timely manner
Receive incoming shipments and compare received materials with shipping documents to ensure accuracy
Fabricate/assemble wood crates in accordance with product size requirements
Prepare and protect extrusions, glass and other component parts for shipment
Secure products in crates and close crates in compliance with safety and quality standards
Load crates and associated materials on trucks for shipment
Load Company Vehicles with related products for field installation and/or service
Verify the shipment is complete by confirming parts were picked properly and loaded into crates as per the packing slip
Inspect and store glass, in accordance with internal standards
Document completeness of orders, both inbound and outbound, by taking pictures of crate and/or package contents.
Operate related machinery (ex. table saw) in a safe manner
Assist other team members with physically moving/carrying materials from one location to another
Special Projects as assigned
Maintain a clean and safe environment
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a Laborer and/or Material Handling Role
Ability to meet and maintain certification requirements to operate all types powered industrial trucks (ex. forklift)
Previous experience operating manual pallet jacks
Ability to meet and maintain certification requirements to safely operate overhead cranes
Experience with all forms of shipping documents (Bill of Ladings, Shipping Manifests, etc.)
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs on a frequent basis
Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
Ability to read a tape measure
Experience with hand tools (including nail guns, screw guns and chop saws)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ Years of experience in a related position
Basic computer and typing skills
Ability to interpret product documentation (ex. product folders, product drawings, bills of material, warehouse pull sheets, packing lists, etc.) required for labeling, packaging and shipping instructions is preferred
Familiar with LTL freight processes
