Job Description:The successful candidate will be part of a Plant Engineering Team that maintains and operates building infrastructure consisting of a variety of industrial spaces. These include Office Areas, Closed DoD Space, and R&D Specialty Labs. This position will report directly to one of the NCA Plant Engineering Supervisors. The selected candidate will work in our downtown Nashua NH facility, which sits on 22 acres and has approximately 680,000 square feet of office, lab and manufacturing space.At BAE Systems our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics – from saving emissions in the City of Lights to powering the Mars Rover to protecting the F-35 fighter jet. The successful candidate shall have experience in and be capable of the following:
Performs Safety inspections covering the ordering, storing, transportation and handling of hazardous waste, chemicals, gases, and equipment replacement/spare parts. Recognizes situations that could produce an unsafe working environment, that risks fire, explosion or pose a threat to human health and the environment.Dispenses chemicals/gases to various departments on a regular basis to ensure daily requirements are met. Monitors storage inventories to maintain adequate supplies and ensure chemicals/gases are available. Dispenses chemicals/gases in approved safety containers and in a safe manner to comply with all regulatory requirements.Orders, stores, transports, and disposes of chemicals, gases, bio-hazardous waste, asbestos, PCB 's, lab pack materials, and other hazardous substances in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepares hazardous waste manifests and hazardous materials shipping documents for transport, and ensures that the manifest, shipping document cycle is complete. Maintains shipping document files/records including waste & hazardous materials shipment records, HW profiles, inspection records etc.May inspect liquid and gas storage tanks to determine order point and to check compliance against tank regulations.Performs required safely inspections for all Emergency response equipment, including Emergency Spill Equipment, etc., to ensure all equipment is available and ready for use in the event of a chemical release. Oversees outside contractors inspecting and testing services for equipment, as required.Required to be a member of the Chemical Emergency Response Team (CERT).May perform miscellaneous safety inspections, such as: eyewash/safety showers, fire extinguishers, ladders, crane & hoists, as required.Assists in the company efforts to minimize the generation of hazardous wastes. Works with ESH, Facilities, and Manufacturing Engineers to identify, monitor, and reduce hazardous waste streams whenever possible. Coordinates and implements approved recycling programs for materials such as: lamps & ballasts, electronics scrap, lead solder waste, batteries, refrigerants, toner cartridges, etc.May be required to clean, service, and/or decontaminate equipment that may contain hazardous substances and/or oversee outside contractors to perform these duties, and to participate in the sorting and accumulation of hazardous waste materials in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.Maintains a working knowledge of Federal, (EPA, OSHA, DOT and other applicable federal laws) State and local rules and regulations regarding wastewater discharges and hazardous waste / hazardous materials management.Must be able to operate within a computerized maintenance work order system. Qualitied candidate must be able to log work performed, provide a brief explanation of the problem, and summarize what was replaced and or repaired.May be required to participate on special teams including but not limited to emergency and medical response teams, and willing to participate in the on-call coverage for the facility.Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Requires a High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience handling hazardous waste and chemicals.Requires a State Hazardous Waste Coordinator Certification.Knowledge of EPA Hazardous Waste regulations, Department of Transportation regulations, and packaging, marking and transporting hazardous materials, OSHA regarding sorting, handling and storage of hazardous waste, chemicals, and gases, as well as knowledge of NFPA Fire Codes and State Hazardous Waste Program requirements.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $72380 - $115830
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
