We are looking for a dynamic Program Manager to lead and inspire our talented team of Physicists and Researchers. The research team focuses their work on lasers, frequency combs, atomic clocks, photonics, and ultracold atomic gases to develop novel positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) instrumentation and techniques. The team is directly embedded on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM working alongside the Air Force Research Laboratory government team.
Position Overview: As the Program Manager for our Quantum Sensing and Timing team, you will play a critical role in overseeing research projects, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring the successful execution of our strategic objectives. You will be responsible for managing timelines, budgets, and resources while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team. You will also contribute directly to one or more research projects, based on interest and discussions with the government team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads a multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Researchers in quantum physics and photonics Converts technical and mission needs of AFRL customer into project scope and requirements Develops and oversees project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines Coordinates research activities, allocates resources, and manages budgets effectively Facilitates collaboration among team members and with external customers Monitors progress and provides regular updates to senior leadership and customers Promotes a culture of scientific excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement Contributes directly to one or more research projects
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Quantum Science, Photonics, or a related field Proven experience in project or program management, preferably in a scientific or research environment Understanding of AMO/quantum/photonics principles and current trends Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Substantial experience with direct customer interactions and embedded teams Working knowledge of Department of Defense contracting structures and vocabulary Working knowledge of Agile/Lean/DevOps management approaches and tools Direct laboratory environment experience
