This role involves supporting computational and data-driven research initiatives, particularly within the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Drug Discovery and Development (AICD3) program. You will be focusing on enhancing digital platforms, managing high-performance hardware, and optimizing workflows.

Responsibilities include leading the development and maintenance of digital tools and platforms to support ongoing research collaborations, configuring and managing computing hardware for deep learning projects, and researching innovative technology solutions to meet the evolving needs of this department. Additionally, this role requires comprehensive administrative support to the director, ensuring efficient scheduling, task management, and operational coordination. You will also be involved in supporting educational initiatives within the AICD3 program, bridging technical and academic efforts to foster an engaging learning environment. ***NOTE: This a 100% Full-time 1-year Contract role.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. As part of UCSF's broader mission, our department works with initiatives like the MS in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Drug Discovery and Development (AICD3) and the new proposed MS in Regulatory Innovation, Science and Entrepreneurship (RISE) programs, which train students in advanced computational methods, emerging technologies, regulatory science, and leadership to drive drug discovery and therapeutic innovation. Our projects focus on pioneering research that bridges pharmacology, toxicology, systems biology, and regulatory science. Our department provides a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment, equipping researchers with the tools and training needed to redefine biopharmaceutical development, academic research, and leadership support.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training.Minimum 1 year of related experience.General knowledge of several areas of IT.Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect users and dependent / related functions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, adapting to both technical and administrative requirements in a dynamic environment.Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Familiarity with computer hardware assembly, including selecting and configuring components for specific technical needs.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of secure software development and back-end development and database management. Experience working in an academic, research, or scientific setting.Knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Experience with Java, particularly in GUI design and application development.Demonstrated experience with database administration.Knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.Demonstrated knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies. Demonstrated skills applying security controls to computer software and hardware.Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
