Supplier Manufacturing Engineer ( El Segundo, CA ) 1331512 Month Contract
Pay Rate: $40-45/hr maybe more for the right candidate

The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer creates statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, machining, and material handling equipment. Knowledge of composite manufacturing is highly preferred.
Will work closely with tooling design team and in house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs to instructions suppliers can bid and fabricate. Is responsible for tooling liaison support between Manufacturing Suppliers and Tooling group. Will coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and responsible for suppliers meeting quality, cost, and schedule.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building are needed for the role. Knowledge of CAD software such as NX and Catia and laser inspection is preferred but not required.
Role and Responsibilities:Support development of tooling packages for supplier bid process through procurement group.Read and analyze complex GD&T drawings and help analyze existing drawings to identify shortcomings or missing information.Track supplier performance and answer all technical questions related to the manufacturing of tools.Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to support suppliers in manufacturing of tooling.Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in tool design layout to fellow responsible engineers or designers.Interact with design and development teams (teams include specialists in Design, Analysis, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing) to meet all design tooling requirements (technical, cost, schedule)Support Continuous Improvement activitiesSupport activities related to estimating, RFQ/RFP/RFI, and ROM pricing.
Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline2-5+ years experience in a manufacturing engineering facility or equivalentComposite experience is a plusCAD solid modeling (experience with NX/CATIA) and drafting experience are a plusIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellenceExperience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Proficiency with GD&T best practicesMust be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamExperience with tooling design, mechanical assemblies and manufacturing is a plusOral and written communication, computer, documentation, and presentation skills are requiredAbility to prioritize and manage time effectively
