Minimum QualificationsEducation and/or Equivalent Experience:Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus one (1) year of work experience, six (6) months of which were spend operating vehicles to transport passengers, or equipment.Combination of equivalent Experience and Education may substitute for the minimum qualifications.Licenses or Certifications:

Current Texas Motor Vehicle Operator License appropriate for vehicle(s) operated.Notes to ApplicantsApplicants are expected to follow all directions as listed in this job posting.This is temporary position will transport vehicles and parts to Fleet Service Center locations, other City facilities and vendors inside and outside city limits as well as refueling vehicles when needed, assist with cleaning shops areas, yard count and managing tool inventory on service trucks.

This position requires a current Texas Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date.

City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite

. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Preferred Qualifications Duties, Functions and ResponsibilitiesEssential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Conducts pre-and post-inspection of vehicles, performs minor maintenance and reports and schedules vehicle maintenance as needed and maintains vehicle records.Maintains vehicle records.Drives City operated passenger vehicles to transport individuals with potentially diverse backgrounds and physical abilities.Assists passengers including people with special needs safely into or out of the vehicle.Collects fees, keeps cash receipt records, and makes deposits.Assists in performing facility set up, handyman, and food service tasks at various centers or other destinations.Performs intake of new clients.Coordinates activities and events.Performs routine administrative tasks such as copying, filling in for the receptionist, transporting mail, filling out forms, and preparing reports.Picks up vehicle parts, returns parts for credit and takes parts back to the vendor.Provides briefings and answers citizen questions about services provided.Adheres to safety guidelines, laws, and regulations regarding operation of assigned vehicles.Transports vehicles to and from vendor locations, refuels vehicles and assists service center with cleaning up the shop for a fleet operations.
