Video Player Engineer - Roku (INTL, LATAM or US)

Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Roku Video Player Engineer for their large media and entertainment clients. This is 6-month contract (likely extensions) and is remote requiring working Pacific Standard Time. You will be joining the Digital Video Platform organization that leads the video and player engineering teams responsible for this companys digital video ecosystem (Sports, News, Entertainment), including live and VOD offerings. This team builds video player frameworks which are then consumed by a variety of the clients apps; sports, news, weather, Venu. This team builds the video players that these other teams integrate into their specific platforms/apps (Roku, iOS, Android). This team gets product requests from different business units across the org and they need to prioritize them ( it might be to build a feature specific to weather, to sports etc). They also assist these BU's with integrations. This is a mid level-senior engineering role where the successful candidate must understand how live streaming video works, how to optimize it and how to optimize video players for best user experience. This person will face challenges such as finding rebuffering issues, improving start times of videos, solving things like how to do DVR and allow someone to scrub forward and backwards on live streams. Skills and Requirements 7 years of development/engineering experience Recent experience with Roku engineering; experience with brightscript/scenegraph Video Player Engineering experience. Should have experience developing, maintaining and optimizing the video playback functionalities and video streaming within the Roku platform Experience working on/supporting a Live video streaming application.
