Apply today to #BecomeOceanFirst and make an impact in the local community!PRIMARY PURPOSE:The CRA Loan Officer will directly solicit mortgage applications within low to moderate geographies and to low to moderate income borrowers through industry sources, such as, realtors, attorneys, builders, and financial planners. This role will generate residential mortgage loans while participating with housing authorities and government agencies focused on CRA objectives.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Takes residential mortgage loan applications and communicates underwriting decisions, including offers and/or counter offers of residential mortgage products. Originations focus to be on underserved-, low- and moderate-income persons or geographies to achieve homeownership utilizing the bank's products for the geographic area of responsibility.Research organizations and agencies within the geographic area which are focused on providing services to low- and moderate-income persons and communities.Establishes, through direct outreach efforts, relationships with organization, realtors and governmental agencies which will support the bank's CRA programs.Calls on government sponsored, not-for-profit housing agencies, and community development agencies supporting low-to-moderate income housing interests and initiatives in the communities they serve. Conducts workshops, seminars or other focus group related activities that serve these entities.Assists with the development of special purpose loan programs and educates qualified applicants to meet community credit needs.Represents the Bank in community-based meetings and initiatives such as housing seminars, financial literacy programs, affordable housing conferences, etc., which have as their primary focus providing services to low- and moderate-income persons.Meets average monthly sales goals as assigned by Sales Manager.Explains variety of mortgage products and services available and offers recommendations based on evaluation of individual prospect needs. Communicates terms and conditions of loans and finalizes sales.Guides customers through the mortgage application process. Explains information required and delivers required disclosures and other information to customers. Ensures applications are completed accurately and contain required information and supporting documentation. Manages expectations regarding processing times and closing dates together with customers.Maintains a strong knowledge of all Bank products and services and cross sells services to mortgage loan clients; sells other Bank products and services, as appropriateCommunicates regularly with customers, underwriters, processors, realtors, closing agents and others to ensure application process as planned. Coordinates any additional information requests, clarifications and other problem solving as needed so that process remains on scheduleAttends closings, as needed.Keeps informed on current real estate market trends and the rules, regulations, & upcoming changes pertaining to residential mortgages.

RequirementsJOB SPECIFICATIONS:Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrated sales ability with the ability to build a referral network.In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, products, lending practices, loan programs, underwriting requirements, and regulatory guidelines; including CRA related products (FHA, VA, etc.) to low-to-moderate income borrowers and in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods.Proven relationship building and client service; growing network of outside contacts to generate referral flow.Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.Ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including financial management, budgeting, and investing.Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of laptop loan submissions.Flexibility in work schedule.Ability to meet the needs of customers with regard to their schedule and location.

Experience & EducationBachelor's degree or progressive work experience required.3+ years related mortgage or outside sales experience required.Established network of community-based organizations, municipalities, and agencies whose primary focus is affordable housing and first-time home buyer educationValid NMLS Registration required.Bilingual preferred
