BE/BC Neuro-Oncologist
to join our growing academic program in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.Opportunity Details
Fellowship training from UCNS-accredited program requiredCandidates with experience and new graduates are welcome to applyWork with a team of 7 neurosurgeons, 7 hematology/oncology physicians, 4 radiation oncologists, and several APPsMust be open to mentoring and teaching Neurology residents and medical studentsNeuro-oncologist would have clinic at the Carle Cancer Institute with appropriate staffing and access to Infusion Rooms. Practice in a multi-disciplinary setting with biweekly Brain Tumor Board and a strong support from all hospital servicesNeuro-oncologist would become a member of our future multi-disciplinary neuro-oncology clinic and would have clinical collaboration and back up coverage with hematology/oncology physiciansExceptional opportunities to conduct basic science research or translational research in collaboration with faculty at the University of IllinoisUnique opportunity to conduct clinical research using our state-of-the-art 7T MR suite at Carle Foundation HospitalThe U of I has a strong focus on neuroscience with a variety of research projects: from cognitive neuroscience study of human learning and memory to several imaging projects at Biomedical Imaging Center at Beckman Institute. This includes MRI and molecular imaging (PET/SPECT/CT) labs that can support imaging research for humans, animals, and materialsCarle Hematology/Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Neurosurgery are committed to providing the highest quality of care for patients with primary and metastatic brain, base of skull and spine tumorsVery competitive compensation planAbout the Carle Neuroscience Institute:Home of Carle Foundation Hospital's ACGME-accredited Neurology residency programAs a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center from DNV Healthcare, CNI provides comprehensive services including Vascular Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, and Neuro-interventional servicesCarle neurosurgeons perform awake craniotomies for resection of brain tumor, stealth neuro-navigation, operative microscopy, intra-operative ultrasound, neuro-monitoring and fluorescence guided glioma resections. Spinal fusion is available for patients with metastatic disease to the spineCarle Radiation Oncology has state-of-the-art technology with Varian True Beam linear accelerator with the most sophisticated beam shaper (micro-MLCs) offering a very conformal delivery of radiation therapy to brain tumors with avoidance of the normal brain tissue.
