Oracle Healthcare Data Intelligence (HDI) is at the forefront of leveraging data and AI to transform the healthcare industry. Our team is dedicated to solving complex challenges in healthcare by developing innovative solutions using Generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs). This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with expertise in LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), small language models, agents, LangChain, and model evaluation frameworks.

Your Opportunity:

As a Principal Applied Scientist within the HDI team, you will lead the development of cutting-edge Generative AI and NLP solutions tailored to healthcare. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and deploy scalable models and systems that enhance clinical decision-making, optimize operational workflows, and deliver meaningful insights from complex healthcare data.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Research and Development:

Conduct advanced research on LLMs, RAG techniques, small language models, agent architectures, and LangChain frameworks specific to healthcare challenges.

Explore emerging AI and NLP methodologies to enhance data intelligence for healthcare applications.

Model Development:

Design, train, and fine-tune state-of-the-art generative and retrieval-augmented models for healthcare-specific use cases, such as clinical documentation, patient insights, and care optimization.

Develop robust, scalable models with a strong focus on accuracy, interpretability, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

LLM Evaluation:

Build and apply comprehensive evaluation frameworks to assess and benchmark models using semantic similarity, contextual accuracy, and healthcare-specific metrics.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to integrate AI solutions into Oracle’s healthcare platforms and products.

Ensure adherence to stringent data security and privacy protocols to protect sensitive patient and healthcare data.

Innovation:

Identify opportunities to apply Generative AI and agent-based approaches to emerging healthcare needs.

Stay ahead of industry trends and position Oracle HDI as a leader in healthcare-focused AI innovations.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field; or

Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in AI/ML development.

Experience:

Proven track record in NLP and deep learning, with a focus on healthcare or other regulated industries.

Demonstrated expertise in developing solutions using LLMs, RAG, LangChain, and small language models.

Experience leading research and development projects and publishing in top-tier journals or conferences.

Skills:

Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, architectures, and frameworks.

Proficiency in agent-based systems, retrieval-augmented models, and modular AI frameworks.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Proven ability to lead teams and deliver high-impact solutions in a collaborative environment.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $127,700 to $213,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
