Position Summary:The CAO will play a critical role in shaping this organization's financial strategy and sustainability. This individual will oversee the financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The CAO will also be a strategic partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, contributing to the organization's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:Lead financial strategy, planning, and analysis to support organizational growth and sustainabilityManage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projectionsOversee accounting, finance, and audit functions, ensuring timely and accurate reportingEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including audits and tax filings (Form 990)Provide financial insights and reports to the Board of Directors and leadership teamDevelop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and optimize resourcesPartner with program leaders to align financial practices with mission objectivesSupport grant management and donor relations, ensuring proper tracking of restricted fundsLead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvementQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)Minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within a non-profit organizationStrong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles (GAAP), budgeting, and financial reportingExperience with grants, restricted funding, and compliance requirementsProven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and Board of DirectorsExcellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skillsProficiency in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office SuiteWhy Join Us?
