As application support engineer energy storage systems (ESS) and hybrid energy products, your mission is to ensure the highest level of technical support and customer satisfaction by providing expert troubleshooting, system optimization, and comprehensive customer support for our energy storage and hybrid energy solutions. Leveraging a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and renewable energy technologies, this role aims to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency, while actively contributing to product development through feedback from field experiences. This position is pivotal in empowering our clients to achieve their energy goals, driving the adoption of sustainable energy storage solutions, and fostering long-term partnerships through excellence in innovation and service. Support customers both internal and external with the correct operational commissioning of ESS of all sizes and configurations. You will work closely with our customer center (CC), technical support (PTS), some key customers and product development teams globally. Be the go-to person within the local engineering team to answer questions from the Customer Centers and Marketing about the technical performance expectations of the equipment. Act as a liaison with the internal engineering and technical service teams regarding issues related to batteries, inverters, connectivity, controllers and software. Provide competency development and training to customer centers, technical service and key customers regarding ESS systems using a train the trainer philosophy. Conduct detailed analyses of system performance data to identify and resolve issues, improve system efficiency, and reduce downtime. Work closely with the engineering and product development teams to provide feedback and insights from customers to guide future product and software enhancements. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and best practice manuals. Conduct training sessions for customers and internal staff on ESS applications and maintenance. Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory standards related to energy storage and renewable energy. Responsible for the design and creation of 3D models and 2D drawings for electrical systems such as wire harness, electrical control panels, electrical diagrams, etc. Initiate and/or revise electrical drawings as required per Design Notifications. Prepare and initiate electrical Design Notifications (DN's) for existing production products. Evaluate current production products for cost reduction opportunities. Define and prioritize with purchasing these cost reduction opportunities and act as the Engineering Team leader in these endeavors. Aid in the troubleshooting of new product development and production machines and Provide manufacturing/production support as required. Ensure technical regulations & Standards are met CSA, UL, ROHS etc. The position requires the employee to be able to effectively communicate with others outside the company such as suppliers and vendors. Experience Minimum of 5 years in an Engineering related function such as Electrical Engineer (preferred) or Technical Support Engineer. Mechanical Engineer with good electrical experience can be considered. Previous knowledge of battery technologies, inverters, and controllers in industrial or automation equipment is preferred. Experience with energy management software and diagnostic tools is preferred. Experience with diesel generators and paralleling of diesel generators is a plus. Prior experience of working with energy storage systems, renewable energy solutions is a plus. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field. A master's degree is a plus. Skills Should have a good command of English and good command of Spanish is a plus. Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Proficiency in data analysis and the use of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and system optimization. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
