OFFICIAL JOB TITLE: Systems Solutions Specialist (2-year, grant-funded) DIVISION : Enrollment Management BARGAINING UNIT STATUS: Non-Unit Professional DEPARTMENT : University Registrar FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: University Registrar SUPERVISES: N/A SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Systems Solutions Specialist works as a member of the University Registrar's Office with a focus on student degree/academic progression and course planning systems. Following the University's best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention, the Systems Solution Specialist collaborates with campus constituents and vendors to analyze, establish, and document requirements for the degree planning tool's implementation and maintenance as well as other student records related systems to meet strategic objectives for student persistence and timely graduation. EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads and oversees student records-related technology improvements including a degree/course planning tool through configuration, development, implementation, and maintenance Collaborates with campus constituents, IT departments (internally and UMass-system level), and software vendor partners to create and manage workflow rules, data validation, and report queries Develops and implements a graduation readiness project including progress tracking aimed at identifying students who are within one semester of degree completion utilizing the degree planning tool Collaborates with college deans and chairpersons to improve and automate the degree clearance/certification process Partners with Associate Registrar on course capacity planning to ensure timely graduation of students Manages degree planning and completion reporting efforts by generating, evaluating and compiling data, authoring and distributing customized queries and reports, dashboards, and data visualizations Develops and supports electronic workflows related to student records enterprise systems Trains faculty, advisors, chairpersons, graduate program directors, deans, and staff in degree planning capabilities and results interpretation documenting processes and promoting knowledge sharing Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned and/or the job description changed periodically to reflect changing organization needs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated (over three years) project management experience Demonstrated (over three years) experience working with higher education student information systems Demonstrated (over three years) experience in professional academic advising and/or degree planning Previous (over one year) experience in creating and modifying standard query language (SQL) OTHER: Must be available for off-hours, evening and/or weekends as projects dictate. Some travel may be required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree Working experience with the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft data model, PeopleSoft Query Manager, and Degree Planning Software Tools Experience with data visualization packages KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Solid understanding of student information data structures and dependencies Proven knowledge of information security, data integrity and consistency concepts as it pertains to data architecture Demonstrated problem solving and issue resolution skills Ability to approach projects and problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation Ability to make written and oral presentations clearly and effectively Ability to create and maintain documentation (i.e. workflow diagrams, technical and training documentation, implementation and job aid instructions) Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse University community Positive customer service attitude and patience with customers Excellent organizational skills SALARY: $65,000-$75,000 UMass Dartmouth offers exciting benefits such as: 75% Employer-Paid Health Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts Life Insurance Long Term Disability State Pension Retirement Plan Optional Retirement Savings Plans Tuition Credit (Employee, Spouse, & Dependents) Twelve (12) paid holidays Paid personal, vacation, and sick time And More Benefits for Non-Unit Professional: Non-Unit Professional Applicants must be authorized for employment in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
