Job Description Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), an internationally recognized environmental research and advocacy nonprofit based in Boston, MA, seeks a Communications Associate to join our interdisciplinary team. The position reports to the Deputy Director of Advocacy and is responsible for planning and implementation of communications across the organization, including social media, e-newsletters, press, web content, visual storytelling, and print and digital marketing materials. The Communications Associate will also work closely with CRWAs program and development teams to coordinate and support programmatic outreach, as well as fundraising activities and events as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and manage CRWAs communications calendar. Update and maintain website. Create content, including photos, videos, storymaps and/or other creative products to support education and awareness of CRWAs work and accomplishments. Draft and distribute press releases and handle media inquiries. Develop and coordinate e-newsletters. Work with Development team to produce CRWAs Annual Report. Collaborate with program staff to implement outreach aspects of CRWAs grant-funded projects, such as project web pages, virtual/in-person meetings, informational materials, social media posts, webinars, and trainings. Manage customer relationship management (CRM) platforms (i.e., Constant Contact). Recruit and manage communications and media interns as needed. Perform other duties as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) required. At least 2 years of experience in the communications field. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Experience with digital communications and related technology. Experience with social media and trends. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, or equivalent. Experience with CRM software (Constant Contact is preferred). Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Enjoys collaborating and working as part of a team. Must be able to work some evening and weekend events. Bilingual is a plus. This is a full-time position based in Boston with competitive salary and benefits, including generous paid time off, employer contributions to health insurance premiums and retirement plan, and a public transit stipend. CRWAs office operates on a hybrid remote/in-person schedule. The starting salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $60,000, commensurate with experience.
