Job Title: Embedded Network Engineer
Job Description
The Embedded Network Engineer will act as our primary technical expert for developing the latest generation of high-speed embedded communication networks. You will work with cutting-edge chips (Broadcom, Marvell) and take ownership of testing and evaluating them for our system.
Responsibilities
Evaluate new network architectures, including modeling and assessing network behaviors.
Conduct technical risk and opportunity analysis.
Derive hardware and software requirements from high-level concepts/specifications.
Collaborate closely with the electrical engineering team to develop new embedded networking hardware for automotive applications.
Develop embedded software to support new networking architectures and capabilities.
Program and configure embedded PHYs and switches.
Assess, implement, and perform compliance verification testing of automotive networking protocols and standards.
Perform embedded networking tests at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
Analyze and assess verification and validation results.
Conduct network analyses to include safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and system security.
Essential Skills
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of networking-related embedded firmware experience.
Experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting PHYs and embedded switches.
Experience with RTOS and/or Linux Operating Systems.
In-depth knowledge of networking layers 0-4 and common networking protocols such as TCP/UDP, static/dynamic routing, VLANs, etc.
Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting skills at the system, network, and individual component levels.
Knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Clauses 22 & 45 (MDIO) Management Data Input/Output.
Proficiency with troubleshooting tools (network analyzers, scopes, etc.).
Comfortable reading hardware schematics and integrated circuit datasheets.
Work Environment
Approximately 250-300 employees. Heavy engineering and test environment. Preference for onsite work with flexibility for 1-2 days a week from home, contingent on productivity.
