Job Summary: The Enterprise Client Architect is a high-value role within HP IT, focusing on engineering advanced solutions related to the delivery of services to HP's fleet of client endpoints. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic design and standardization of client services that balance employee experience, technical functionality, and CyberSecurity compliance. The ideal candidate is a versatile client professional who is skilled in multi-platform technologies, while also adept in managing a range of other client controls, ensuring a holistic approach to the organization's client management, data security and software compliance posture. The Enterprise Client Architect is expected to work in lockstep with multiple teams, including HP's CyberSecurity team, HP IT's Architecture and Engineering teams and HP's many business units, to ensure that the overall client management environment is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its quality, reliability, sustainability and functionality. The primary role of the Enterprise Client Architect is to ensure that the respective business, application, data, and technology solutions delivered to clients are in line with the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies and standards. In addition, the Enterprise Client Architect will be instrumental in any innovation activity related to the development of new services or functions for use by HP employees on HP managed endpoints. This position will be ideally located in Houston, TX or Austin, TX but other locations can be considered. Focus Areas and Specialties: The Enterprise Client Architect role focuses in the Client Management, Security and Applied Networking aspects of enterprise architecture. Specifically, the ideal candidate should be skilled in the following: Client-based security models and architectures, including zero-trust access, VPN technologies, Internet access security and overall security-minded architectures. Modern client authentication, management and configuration models, including Active Directory, Azure AD, InTune, Copilot, Bitlocker, etc. Platform experience with the following: Zscaler zero trust and proxy solutions Microsoft, Palo Alto and Zscaler remote access solutions Security solutions such as Crowdstrike, PingID and HP Wolf Security Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud technologies Unified communications technologies, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. LAN/WAN expertise (MPLS, Internet, wired and wireless LANs) are a plus. Main Duties: Participate in the design, implementation, configuration and management of Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) deployment on HP managed endpoints. This may include some or all of the following: Create and deploy ZIA architectures to meet specific security and performance requirements. Set up access control rules, PAC file, encryption settings, and other ZIA policies to protect users and data. Integrate ZIA with other network components, such as firewalls, load balancers, and identity providers. Integrate Zscaler client connector software with HP managed PCs to ensure compatibility and performance. Keep informed about new ZIA features, updates, and best practices. Assess the security posture of ZIA deployments and identify potential vulnerabilities. Participate in the investigation, design, implementation, configuration and management of client VPN technologies. This may include some or all of the following: Develop and document Palo Alto Networks Prisma and on-prem GlobalProtect VPN network designs. Integrate GlobalProtect with other network components, such as firewalls, load balancers, and identity providers. Integrate GlobalProtect client VPN software with HP managed PCs to ensure compatibility and performance. Offer technical advice and support to VPN engineers, administrators and helpdesks. Anticipate future VPN requirements and design scalable solutions to accommodate growth and specific business needs. Lead in activities related to the design, development, communication, and maintenance of advanced client solutions. Partner with managed service providers to ensure the continuous and optimal performance of client solutions through regular maintenance activities, updates, and patches. Recommend, implement, and maintain client policies, providing continuous improvement based on best practices. Work with IT Architecture to research overall client technology, platforms and vendors to recommend best-in-breed solutions based technical requirements and business needs. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT architecture, IT support, cybersecurity, and compliance, to integrate client solutions into higher-level security or IT architectures. Collaborate with vendor account teams to understand and implement new client enhancements as needed to bolster HP's overall security posture or maximize user experience. Conduct training sessions for cross-functional teams on relevant client solutions, best practices and features on an as-needed basis. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Conduct and/or participate in meetings related to designated programs. Advise and recommend architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies. Recommend and participate in the analysis, evaluation, and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the IT objectives are consistent with the enterprise's long-term business objectives. Share best practices, lessons learned and experience with IT / Cyber teams and update technical documentation, as needed, based on current or future implementations. Participate in (and possibly manage) client architecture working groups and act as a mentor to peers. Collaborate with all relevant parties to review the objectives and constraints of each client solution, determine compliance with existing network architecture standards and recommend the most suitable technical architecture. Identify and recommend areas appropriate for further study and participate in any Proof-of-Concept projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural possibilities. Identify, analyze, and communicate potential implementation risks and possible impact to the enterprise for any pending or scheduled change or implementation related to managed client solutions. Serve as escalation point and subject matter expert related to Major Incidents and operational issues within the client management tower or in other towers as appropriate. Assist in building financial cases for architectural directions related to relevant client solutions or architectures, including total cost of ownership and the return on investment. Have mastery of applications needed to perform job functions, such as Microsoft Office, Visio, Teams, Zoom, etc. Education and Experience Required: Industry experience - minimum 10 years, with 3-5 years of experience at the Expert level. Minimum 5 years working in enterprise networking environments. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience. The base pay range for this role is $137,000 to $211,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
