BE PART OF THE CONNECTION As a Principal Wireless Eng II on this team you will research, architect, develop and support IoT and WiFi radios and functionality on residential WiFi access points, you will lead development of system requirements, system architecture, and validation test plans for carrier grade IoT border routers and gateways based upon Thread, WiFi, Matter and related wireless technologies, you will collaborate with Engineering and Product Development organizations, vendors, MSO partners on the development, support and operations of IoT and WiFi radios and solutions, and you will contribute to the design, development and validation of wireless coexistence subsystems, such as the functionality supporting coexistence of 2.4 GHz WiFi and other 2.4 GHz IoT radios (e.g. Thread, BLE, Bluetooth). WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL WIRELESS ENGINEER IIs ENJOY MOST Researching, architecting, developing and evaluating IoT platforms and functions based on Thread, Matter, WiFi and other wireless technologies. Designing and performing experiments in Charter labs and/or test houses to benchmark and characterize the performance of IoT and WiFi radios and investigate IoT and WiFi customer device interop issues. Providing recommendations to product development organizations and leadership with the objective of improving performance, optimizing cost, reducing complexity and improving user experience. Contributing to intellectual property creation, patent filing and contribution to relevant standards and industry forums. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications Experience: Technology Development & Management - 10 years years of experience Technology management experience working with the top MSOs, Telco, satellite operators or major wireless vendor in the U.S. - 5-7 years of experience Education: BSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent; graduate degree preferred Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge in wireless access technologies including WiFi, IoT, 4G-LTE and familiar with 5G and a clear track record of excellence managing the wireless access engineering systems within an organization of a well-known media brand. Hands-on experience with a broad range of wireless access technologies including WiFi, IoT and 4G-LTE. Competency with key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security. Familiarity with the CPE Wireless Gateway and Router designs and roadmap plans for all major Operators in the U.S. Operational experience with WiFi, IoT and 4G-LTE. Skills: Lead complex projects working with a matrix team of engineers at junior and senior levels across the different Engineering Organizations. Demonstrated technology expertise, proven leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, superb technical skills, and a strong customer-service orientation. Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to communicate with all levels of management Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously Ability to prioritize and organize effectively Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure Ability to communicate effectively orally and electronically Travel Abil ty: Office environment. Office Environment Preferred Qualifications Expert level knowledge of 802.15.4 and Thread networking fundamentals (e.g. ipv6, mesh networks, routing and network connectivity, discovery, commissioning, etc.). Experience with multi-radio coexistence, packet traffic arbitration, packet traffic arbitration controls and IoT traffic prioritization. Experience with matter smart home device solutions and certification. Experience using IoT and/or WiFi development tools from SiLabs, Qorvo, Broadcom, Qualcomm, etc. Wide range knowledge about WiFi, IoT and wireless standards and access technologies (IEEE 802.11ac/ax/be, IEEE 802.15.4, Thread, ZigBee, BLE, etc.). Experience developing performance and functional test cases for systems, products, components under development and in production networks. Experience actively participating and driving technical standards and specs in the Thread group, the Connectivity Standards Alliance and/or the WiFi Alliance. Experience using any of the following platforms: Spirent Octobox, Ixia Veriwave, Candela LANforge, Rohde & Schwarz, etc. and proficiency with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark).
