Lab Aide 1st and 2nd shift
needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in
San Diego, CA.
This position will be for a major
biotech company,
and requires someone with
a minimum high school diploma, college level science courses are a plus.
Shifts available:1st shift (6 am 2:30 pm) Sunday ThursdayThe last 30 minutes of shift (2pm-2:30pm) is 2nd shift differential which is 5% of base rate, $19.75/hr
2nd shift (2 pm 10:30 pm) Sunday Thursday2nd shift differential is 5% of the base rate of $19.75/hr. The last 30 minutes of the shift (10pm-10:30pm) will be 3rd shift differential which is 10% of base pay rate.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for accessioning of genotyping samplesTakes responsibility and ownership for timely and quality completion of workHighly productive/efficient/effective in the labAbility to work independently and within teamsResponsible for training new personnelMay own a portion of process improvement effortsSeeks help in prioritization of assigned activitiesSchedulingAdminister bi-annual and annual competencies for Genotyping accessioning staffAct as area expert in the absence of supervisorBecome proficient in automated technology required for Genotyping accessioningBe able to make key decisions involving the genotyping accessioning processBe able to recognize when to escalate issues encountered in the labStrong ability and knowledge of process to be able to troubleshootTakes a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solvingAble to contribute in investigation and resolution of technical problemsSets standards for excellenceEstablishes criteria and/or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality and productivityIs an example to others regarding health and safety in the labs and across campus?Can apply insights from previous work the current project in order to solve problemsPerforms duties that assist a broader group/team in accomplishing goals and works to become a relied-upon member of teamBe able to articulate beliefs and ideas in such a manner as to influence next steps in process improvement projectsMakes identifiable impacts that advance teams' effortsInsights also help aid direction of next stepsDetail-oriented, time-organized.Ensures completion of tasksAbility to perform at same level when places on a different projectPlans and prioritizes with week-long visionFollows all safety rules at Illumina and applies all relevant protocols to his/her workAbility to perform functions accuratelyWorks to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignmentsConsistent productivity when transitioning to different areasConsistent high quality of executionForesees issues and works to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignmentsProviding supporting data on risk and recommendations on risk management in area of responsibilityInterfaces with technical vendors effectively. QualificationsMinimum high school diploma, college level science courses are a plusKnowledge of SDS (safety data sheets) for relevant chemicals.Ability to multitask; individual initiative; independent thought; ability to work in collaborative teamsExcellent problem-solving skills and comfort with instrumentation
