Our Family Birthing Center is an LDRP composed of 14 rooms, which includes 6 labor rooms, 1 Antepartum room, 4 Recovery rooms, 3 triage bays, and a 3 bed well-baby nursery. We staff by AWHONN standards, and are truly a community hospital serving the ever-growing Mat-Su Borough, in addition to several villages throughout Alaska (which several are only accessible by flight). Our staff works closely together as a team, as we provide every type of care from admission all the way through postpartum.

Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires an associate's degree or higher and is certified as a registered nurse. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma Program required.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in L&D
Licenses/Certifications:
Required -
Current Alaska RN license or compact state license
BLS Basic Cardiac & ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
