Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) is looking for a full-time, credentialed Training and Development Coordinator

Training & Development Coordinator plans, organizes and directs a wide range of training activities within VSH that align with VSH’s mission, vision and culture. Training and Development Coordinators consult with Hospital Service Managers and the leadership team to drive the development of the existing nursing care team through VSH training programs. TDCs will implement performance improvement measures, conduct orientation sessions, and arrange on-the-job training for new employees, VA program and Specialty/ECC Interns with a high focus on mentorship.
Pay Range:
Range is dependent on experience
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $26.00 - $35.00
Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $38.00 - $50.00
Essential Functions:
Supports the Mission and Core Values of VSH.
Provide department-specific training, both technical skills, and medical knowledge, for new and existing staff members, volunteers, and externs.
Provide input in the creation/modification of a clinical training program specific to their department.
Provide mentorship for new and existing staff members during their training period and beyond as applicable.
Work with the Hospital Leadership team to implement educational initiatives
Organize hands-on training workshops on a variety of topics
Building relationships and opportunities for student internships and externships to meet educational requirements for the hospital students
Must have the capability to address staff members confidently and directly should they not be following VSH policies and protocols.
Provide timely updates/feedback on trainee’s progress and maintain accurate, complete training records.
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance the team training programs
Regularly meet with the leadership team to discuss program development, objectives and additional needs
Coordinate schedules of trainees with assistant hospital managers and leads post-initial onboarding and SOP/computer training.
Work with other TDCs to develop curriculum and materials for all VSH training programs
Coordinate and assist with onboarding and initial training for all new hires within the specialty department.
Training/Mentoring Skills required:
Ability to foster a positive working environment and the ability to address training and workflow issues with immediate and on-time feedback in a positive manner.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with professionalism, compassion and tact.
Ability to lead by example and adapt training approach as needed to effectively teach/mentor various personalities, knowledge levels, and learning styles.
Technical Skills required:
Advanced medical vocabulary/knowledge and technical skills including disease pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical math, and workflow specific to their department.
Ability to multitask (train/mentor while completing usual job duties).
Knowledge of nosocomial infection control procedures/policies
Proficiency with the utilization of HIS
The willingness and ability to adapt and evolve with the position.
Credentialed veterinary technician required (RVT/CVT/LVT)
5 + years of service in specialty medicine (if applicable)
