Director, Quality & Patient Safety
Job Summary
Provides leadership direction, management oversight, and subject matter expertise as the senior administrative leader for the Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) operations team. Partners closely with physician leaders in these functional areas to determine and execute priorities and manage overall performance. Collaborates with other operations and administrative functional leaders in an interdependent fashion to ensure resources and teams are coordinating work and aligned on priorities. The Director role has administrative responsibility for this high priority areas of Kaiser Permanente Georgia's strategy. The QPS team has primary responsibility for effectiveness performance (i.e., NCQA, HEDIS, Medicare Stars, population health, Complete Care), clinical risk management, patient safety (systems, inpatient liaison, perinatal, simulation/human factor), health disparities reduction and equity improvement, and additional core QPS programming such as research, academic affairs, peer review, credentialing, coding and documentation, emergency preparedness, safe secure respectful work environment, transgender care, transgender care, and ethics, among other areas.

Serves as senior administrative leader for TSPMG QPS programs; leading teams and initiatives and ensuring resources are available to support required work and meet strategic objectives.Partners closely with AMD of QPS to set strategy, goals, and lead execution to plan; also, to support executive level dashboards and presentations, including presentations at local and national leadership and board meetings.Provides leadership support to subject matter experts (SME's) and physician functional leaders of regional and enterprise QPS initiatives such: effectiveness performance (i.e., NCQA, HEDIS, Medicare Stars, population health, Complete Care), clinical risk management, patient safety (systems, inpatient liaison, perinatal, simulation/human factor), health disparities reduction and equity improvement, and additional core QPS programming such as research, academic affairs, peer review, credentialing, coding and documentation, emergency preparedness, safe secure respectful work environment, transgender care, transgender care, and ethics, among other areas.Applies the principles and methods of Equity-Centered Design, Performance Improvement and Safety Science in QPS and Care Transformation efforts.Ensures STEEEP (safety, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, person-centered) and the "Quintuple Aim" integrates into regional care transformation work.Partners closely with other TSPMG and health plan operational and other Sr Directors as lateral colleague to advance collective TSPMG strategy goals.Lends support, leadership, and/or sponsorship to cross-functional projects to evolve KP's care model of right care, right time, right placeMinimum Education
Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education
Master's Degree in Business or Health Administration, Master of Public Health, or related field.Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
Experienced TSPMG Leader or Minimum of 8 years of health care related experience such as large group practice management experience or related healthcare industry with close ties to physician leadership.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including listening, collaboration, and negotiation.Strong business acumen and strong collaborator.Experience and passion for managing teams and mentoring.Excellent skills working with data analysis and using information to drive improvement.Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications
Prior operations experience.Equity-Centered Design, Performance Improvement, and/or Safety Science education and experience.Prior experience in Quality Improvement in any of the STEEEP areas.CPPS (IHI Safety) certification
