Job Description:
- Confirm physician orders, assess for their appropriateness, and ensure quality patient care.- Notify physician, nurse, or other hospital staff of any unusual reactions observed in patients during medical procedures.- Assess, evaluate, document in medical records, and monitor patient tolerance and response to therapy and treatment.- Explain treatment procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions.- Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.- Promote customer satisfaction through positive interactions with patients, visitors, and co-workers.- Perform respiratory/pulmonary procedures according to department policy or protocol.- Respond to emergencies and participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.- Set up and maintain all equipment, administer medical gases, and medications.- Assist with the stocking of supplies and drugs.- Complete appropriate billing information for services provided.- Participate in patient care teams and quality improvement programs.- Provide input into policy and procedure development to positively impact outcomes and delivery costs.- Engage in educational activities for patients, families, students, other health care professionals, and the community.- Attend in-service sessions, meetings, and conferences to stay current on new techniques, equipment, and procedures.- Maintain proficiency in Respiratory Care skills as required by regulatory agencies.
