We are seeking a skilled Designer to join our team. In this role, you will utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 2D drawings based on project requirements and specifications. You will split your time equally between design work and on-the-floor collaboration with prototyping and manufacturing teams. Your responsibilities will include transitioning provided client designs into usable cut files, managing design projects from start to finish, and ensuring all designs comply with industry standards and company guidelines. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to develop and refine design concepts, revise existing designs, prepare comprehensive documentation, assist in troubleshooting design-related issues, and participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 2D drawings based on project requirements and specifications.
Split time between design work (50%) and on-the-floor collaboration with prototyping and manufacturing teams (50%).
Transition provided client designs into usable cut files within company systems to ensure manufacturability.
Manage cradle-to-grave design projects based on project requirements and specifications.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to develop and refine design concepts.
Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and company guidelines.
Revise and update existing designs to improve accuracy and manufacturability.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all design projects.
Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues and provide solutions.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks with a focus on 2D design.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
3D Design Experience.
Experience in a manufacturing, boating, sheet metal, fabric manufacturing, or engineering environment.
Associate's degree/Certifications in CAD design, engineering, drafting, SolidWorks, or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment
This role involves a balanced work environment with 50% of the time spent on design work and 50% on the manufacturing floor. You will collaborate closely with the prototyping and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and manufacturable. The work environment is dynamic and requires flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
