PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Facilities and Events Coordinator supports all aspects of assigned school and community events to ensure a safe, orderly and maintained event and site. The Coordinator frequently communicates and works with their supervisor and maintains effective relationships with school staff, students and community groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assures that the assigned events (e.g. courts, fields, areas) are set up properly for events including the protocols for coordinating with lead custodians and district maintenance staff, programming/unlocking of doors, equipment use, and the operation of necessary lighting and associated systems.Assists administration with spectator and guest management in accordance with the proper use of the event space or athletic area.Ensures district and community users are adhering to appropriate use etiquette and guidelines.When appropriate, oversees the inventory of supplies and materials needed for proper facility function by communicating such needs to their supervisor.Assists administration in overseeing the coordination of facility areas including lights, doors, alarms and shutdown procedures.Coordinates with the athletic office and/or support services for group event usage.Communicates and coordinates with event users to ensure space is adequately prepared, properly used, and cared for throughout the event usage.Creates and tracks spreadsheets for events, usage and requests.Reports any safety, sanitary or fire hazard to the Support Services Department.Demonstrates effective safety procedures, maintains safe working conditions and complies with safety rules and regulations.Protects the interests of the district regarding pilferage, loss, theft or abuse of district facilities and equipment under their supervision.Responsible for maintaining and coordinating the cleanliness, sanitation, safety and security of district facilities upon the conclusion of events.Problem solves minor malfunctions of facilities, sites and athletic systems such as scoreboards, PA systems, field lighting and equipment.Monitors the operation of the heating plant, electrical, mechanical and plumbing devices of facilities under their supervision. Notifies the responsible person in case of malfunction.Maintains records, completing and submitting reports as required.Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor or administrator.Must be able to work the designated regular workweek as outlined below, which regularly includes evening shifts.WORK WEEK SCHEDULEThe designated regular work week for this position is Tuesday through Saturday.OTHER FUNCTIONS

May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Reports to the Director of Support Services and the Director of Athletics

MENTAL DEMANDS

May experience frequent interruptions.Required to deal with a wide range of student, staff and public behaviors and needs in a positive and service oriented manner.May experience shifts in work schedule according to building usage and need.May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to stand for prolonged periods of time.Ability to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to perform tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical exertion.Must be able to twist the upper torso and neck and bend frequently. Must have good upper body strength to handle, grasp and grip objects on a constant basis using the upper extremities.Exposed to noise from power equipment.May periodically work outdoors in inclement weather.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED.Experience managing fields and coordinating events.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Exceptional customer-service mentality with strong speaking and writing skills.Ability to multi-task and manage ongoing initiatives and responsibilities.Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.Knowledge/ability of Google Suites.Strong computer skills including the ability to manage remote scheduling systems, calendars and similar functions.Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the district.Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the public.Effective customer service and public relations skills.Strong knowledge of safety and security procedures.Licenses/Special Requirements

Requires fingerprinting and background check.Existing Spray Applicator license or ability to obtain within six months.Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Bloodborne Pathogens Training upon hire.Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Turf Specialist on the Classified Salary Schedule A

Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week, 260 days per school year; PSE Negotiated Agreement Salary Range, Retirement, SEBB Benefits, 13 Holidays, Paid Sick Leave
