Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Duke Department of Obstetrics and GynecologyDuke Women's Health Cary in Cary, NC and Duke Women's Health Holly Springs in Holly Springs, NC clinic locations. The APP will work in collaboration with attending physicians and advanced practice providers providing direct patient care, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. There is a possibility of weekend hours in the future as well as extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs.
Experience
2+ years of Women's Health work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant strongly preferred.Job Duties & Responsibilities
Obstetric and Postpartum Care
Will provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit as follows:
Performance of the new obstetric exam with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy.Initiation of plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on individual patient medical/surgical history.Patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.Performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment and triage patients.Gynecological Care
Will be responsible for management of gynecological patients for routine care and/or treatment of common gynecological problems including but not limited to:
All methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning.Routine Well Woman Exams and Pap Smears.Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.Treatment for symptoms of Menopause/perimenopause.Postmenopausal bleedingBreast changes or massesPelvic/abdominal painDysfunctional uterine bleedingRoutine Postoperative follow up and problem visits.Miscellaneous
Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, clinic staff and other relevant healthcare providers.Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients' condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled, diagnostic and therapeutic services to the patient and/or their family.Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.Certification
BLS required.License
Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
