Job Responsibilities:
Blackstone is seeking a VP in its Global Tax Planning group to focus on Portfolio Company Tax Planning. The VP will help identify, assess and implement tax planning initiatives and oversee risk management across Blackstone portfolio companies. The role requires a strategic and creative mindset, strong technical expertise, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and stakeholder management. The role will require collaboration within Blackstone, with our portfolio companies and with our network of external advisors.
The role will report to a Managing Director in the Global Tax Planning group and will offer direct exposure to senior internal and external stakeholders, including the Global Chairman of Tax, Head of Global Tax Planning, Blackstone investment professionals as well as Tax Directors, CFOs and other Finance personnel at Blackstone portfolio companies.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Oversee the development and execution of tax planning strategies across Blackstone's portfolio companies Evaluate the technical merits of tax planning initiatives and act as a thought leader on portfolio-wide tax matters Manage outside tax advisors to ensure the timely implementation of tax planning initiatives across the portfolio Build trusted relationships with portfolio company tax directors and facilitate networking within the portfolio Assist portfolio companies' tax groups with RFPs, selecting tax service providers and adopting best practices Partner with deal teams in managing and mitigating tax risks, including those identified during due diligence Ensure full coordination and communication with a broad set of internal stakeholders including Investment Professionals, Portfolio Operations, Fund Tax Structuring, Fund Tax Reporting & Compliance, and Accounting Policy & Strategy. Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Minimum of four years of tax planning experience in a law firm or six to seven years in Big 4 tax practice JD/LLM or CPA required, with JD/LLM preferred Experience with in-house tax departments is a plus Excellent knowledge of US federal and international tax, including Subchapter C and Subchapter K Experience in asset management and/or working with private equity backed companies preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills required Proactive and not afraid to take a hands-on approach to complex matters Self-motivated, with a proven ability to manage a variety of projects with competing priorities Demonstrated reputation for excellence and achievement Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and a proven record of timely delivery Ability to work independently and to take on additional responsibilities The duties and responsibilities described here are not exhaustive and additional assignments, duties, or responsibilities may be required of this position. Expected annual base salary range:
$155,000 - $225,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
